Nenagh Guardian Editor Garry Cotter with myself and Alison O’Connor – Chairperson of the Judging Committee and Marty Whelan of RTE who was MC for the Media Awards night.
What a great night we had at the Local Ireland Media Awards night held in the Mullingar Park Hotel recently.
My story and photograph of a local sheep kill back in January 2023, captured the judges attention when Guardian editor Garry Cotter published the story on the front page.

Marty had questions to ask but it was obvious that he had his home work done….

Well Done Declan.

Congratulations to Declan Osagie grandson of Dan and Marie Kennedy Moatefield who made his international debut in Slovina recently for Ireland under 19’s soccer team . Declan currently plays for Dublin’s Bohemian and looks forward to representing his country again in the future.  Well done Declan.

North Tipp Ploughing.

The national ploughing took place this year in brilliant weather conditions with the crowds flocking to Rathniska for the event which will move location for 2025.
Well done to our very own Robert Duffy who took silver in the Novice class, his dad Tom also took home silver in the Intermediate class while Joe Slattery came away with the bronze medal in the 2 furrow reversible class. Well done lads and indeed well done to all of our representatives who participated in the ploughing, the judging and supervising over the three day event.

Portach Promenade – Redwood Bog Walk.

For many of us in this and surrounding regions, Redwood bog has been an integral part of our lives down through the decades, a place of peace and beauty and for some hardship as we battled to save turf and bring it home.
Deej Fabyc is a well-known local performance artist and video maker and is leading this project in memory of her partner in life and art Mark Newell. The project will involve a 5 KM walk open to all exploring the rich history and culture associated with this region focusing on promoting sustainability. There will be a number of guest speakers on the day.
Join us on Saturday October the 5th at 11am meeting at Redwood Castle. The project will be documented and is funded by a Creative Ireland and Arts grant from Tipperary County Council and agility award from the Arts Council.
Registration is online using Eventbrite and can be found under Portach Promenade – Live Art Ireland https://tinyurl.com/3rd4s299
