Officially Refused as IPAS Centre.

Rathcabbin Concerned Residents wish to inform you that St. Kieran’s Nursing Home Rathcabbin has officially been refused as an International Protection Accommodation Services Centre by the Government. This provides our community with positive reassurance for the future of our community nursing home. As we welcome this announcement we would like to thank all in the local community who came out to support and stand together for the future of our community over the last number of months. Your support has been much appreciated and attributed to the success of the positive outcome we achieved in preventing our nursing home becoming an IPAS centre. Well done to all.

Leaving Certificate Results.

Well done to all the young people in the parish who received their Leaving Certificate results last weekend. By all accounts everyone was happy and content with their results. Well done all.

 Schools Re-Open.

Schools re-open this week around the country. Good luck to all students in our parish schools as they return for another school year and every blessing on the children beginning school for the very first time.

Relics of St Bernadette.

This year the relics of St Bernadette will journey on pilgrimage to Ireland for the very first time. This very special once in a lifetime event will provide an opportunity for people of all ages and backgrounds to experience the special gifts and charisms of Lourdes. We are delighted to announce that the Relics will visit the Diocese of Killaloe on Monday 9th September in the Cathedral Ennis and on Tuesday 10th September in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes Silvermines Co Tipperary. Mattress Amnesty.

Tipperary County Council are holding a two day ‘mattress amnesty’ on  Wednesday September 11th and Thursday September 12th.  Mattresses can be disposed of on Wednesday, September 11th at  Nenagh Recycling Centre, Limerick Road, Nenagh. And at Roscrea Civic Amenity Site, Dublin Road, Roscrea.  Tipperary County Council are offering households the opportunity to dispose of old mattresses for free and householders will be able to bring up to three unwanted mattresses. All centres are open from 9am – 4pm (Closed for lunch 12.30pm– 1pm).

Volunteer Ministries in the Killaloe Diocese.

A information evening on the training programme for the Ministry of Catechist and the Ministry of Pastoral Care will be held on Monday 16tth Sept. 7.30pm in Nenagh Pastoral Centre.  At this meeting Bishop Fintan will be present to formally launch this programme of training and formation. People presently involved in a myriad of volunteer ministries will also be present to answer any of your questions. Come along and see and hear how these lay ministries are developing across the diocese and how you might become part of this Good News story. Weekend Residential Course.

Rathcabbin Hall committee are collecting all your unwanted clothes over the coming weeks. Please do not leave clothes outside the hall without telling one of the above.

Mike Denver Concert in Rathcabbin.

Country music star and Portumna man Mike Denver will be performing in Rathcabbin church on Sunday 22nd of September from 7pm to 9pm. It promises to be a fantastic night’s entertainment and your support will be very much appreciated. All funds raised will go towards the building of the community shop in Lorrha. Tickets costing  €25 are now available from the Sceal shop Lorrha,  the Boathouse shop Portumna, Enda Heenan’s Borrisokane, the Derg Shop Terryglass and Sullivan’s shop in Ardcroney or from any Sceal committee member.   All information  on Mike Denver’s website too. It is advisable to get your tickets as soon as possible before this concerts sells out.

Lorrha senior hurlers recorded their first win in the hurling championship with a win over Holycross-Ballycahill in Templederry on Sunday last. Full time score Lorrha: 5-16 (31) – Holycross-Ballycahill: 2-23 (29). Well done to the team and management.

U15 Tipperary All Ireland series

Well done to Leah Delaney on her performances with the Tipperary U15 team during the year. She was joint captain of the team that contested the final versus Cork at the weekend. Unfortunately the result didn’t go their way but it’s a great honour for Leah, her family and our club.

Under 16

The U16’s recorded a win in their first round match  v St Cronans, Roscrea and face Moneygall away Tuesday at 6.45pm.

Junior A

The first round commenced with a win over Ballina away, and game two will take place in Tony Reddin Park, Friday 30th August versus Templemore.

GAA News.

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €6,700. The numbers drawn on 26 August were: 8-11-15-24.  2 Match 3’s share €100: Gabrielle Duffy and Marie Duffy. Promoters
Next Mondays jackpot is €6,800. Team 3 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Senior: Well done to the lads on their 5-16 to 2-23 win over Holycross/Ballycahill in the final round of group games in the County Championship in Templederry on Sunday. Despite the win, we are in the relegation play-offs in the coming weeks along with Roscrea, Borris-Ileigh and Templederry. Fixture details to come.

Under 19 Hurling: Hard luck to the lads on their loss to Newport last week, bringing their championship campaign to an end.

Under 17 Hurling: Lorrha Rovers played Portroe in the North semi-final on Monday, see GAA Scoreboard for result.

Under 13 Hurling: Lorrha Rovers were defeated 3-11 to 2-7 by Burgess in the North ‘B’ Hurling semi-final last week.

Social Dancing: Continues in the Tony Reddin Centre next Friday from 9.30pm to the music of Peter Burke.
