Congratulations to Mike Blake Portumna who has retired from Bus Eireann School Bus runs. Mike is wished every happiness in the years ahead. Knowing Mike like I do, he won’t be sitting idle for long.  Pic: Rose Mannion

Reminder.

The annual Lorrha Cemetery Mass will be held on Saturday evening coming June 25th at 6.30pm. Weather permitting the Mass will be celebrated outside in the cemetery grounds, otherwise it will take place in the Church. There will be a maintenance collection on the evening and we are very grateful for the continued support.

Weave Workshop.

Barry Noyce, Rathcabbin will host a willow weaving workshop at An Gáirdín this coming Saturday 25th June from 10am to 4pm. If interested call (087) 2845443.

Wedding Bells.

Many congratulations are extended to Michael O’Meara, Dublin and Lorrha and Yvonne Duffy, Castlebar, Co. Mayo who were married recently. We wish them many years of good health and happiness in their future life together.

Well done.

Well done to Clodagh McIntyre and the Tipperary senior camogie squad who edged Wexford  on Saturday last with one point to spare in the All Ireland Series.

Calling All Singletons.

RTÉ2’s hit show First Dates Ireland is currently taking applications from single people who would like to experience a match making process. The requirements to apply are simple. Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to David, Ashling and Oscar Gradwell, Rathcabbin on the death of David’s mother Freda, Raheny, Dublin which occurred on Sunday 12th June.
After funeral Mass in Our Lady Mother of Divine Grace Church, Raheny on Wednesday 15th burial took place in Fingal Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
Sympathy is also extended to the family and relatives of Sydney Walter Williamson, Lorrha, and Grey Meadows, Cloghan, which occurred on June 14th.  Private funeral took place on Friday 17th.  May he rest in peace.
Sympathy is extended to Trish Broderick on the death of her mother Rosin Purcell, Maynooth, who also died recently. May she rest in peace.

Church News.

Mass times in our parish are as follows. Monday Mornings at 9.30am in Lorrha Church (except Bank Holidays). Every Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Lorrha Church. Every Sunday morning at 11.30am in Rathcabbin Church.

Collection Buckets.
Please note that collection buckets are available in Sceal shop, Friars Tavern, Pat Hough’s, Kellys Rathcabbin, Ferry Inn and Mulrooney’s Ferry Service Station for anyone wishing to make a contribution to the homecoming of the Lorrha Martin O’Meara VC. The committee also have a Go Fund Me page which is in operation at  https://www.gofundme.com/f/homecoming-of-martin-omearas-vc or by typing in Homecoming of Martin O’Meara’s VC  Go Fund Me Page, to raise the necessary funds required to bring Martin O’Meara’s VC to Lorrha for the first time in 105 years. Summer Camp.

Busy Bodies Summer Camp 2022 takes place in Killeen National School, with week 1 commencing 4th July, & week 2 from 12th July. Activities include sports, swimming, cooking, music, arts and much more. Ages 3 to 10 years. Time from 9.30am to 3pm with the school opening at 8am. Bring a lunch. Phone Ann on 087 9625218 for more info & booking details.

GAA Notes

There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €11,600. The numbers drawn on 20 June were: 4-5-19-24. 3 Match 3’s share €100: Johnny O’Meara, Anne Lambe, Grace Delaney.  Promoters: Mulrooney’s Gala, Sean Mannion, Tony Coen.
Next Monday’s jackpot will be €11,700 with Team 1 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.

Premier Intermediate: Lorrha take on Moneygall in the North semi-final on Sunday 3rd July, time, and venue to be confirmed.

Junior Hurling: The Junior ‘B’s take on Knockshegowna this Friday in Moatfield in the first round of the North Championship at 7.30pm

Inter-County: Congratulations to Killian Fitzgerald who continues to represent the Tipperary under-14 hurling team.

Congratulations: To Sean Molloy who, having completed An Rás Tailteann – an international cycling race around Ireland – has become the first Lorrha native to do so. Great stuff Sean.

Social Dancing: Continues this Friday at 9.30pm to the music of Break Free.
