Happy Halloween to all….

 

Birthday Greetings.

Congratulations and many good wishes is extended to Kathleen Houlihan Lorrha on the occasion of her 99th birthday. Kathleen celebrated the wonderful occasion last week with her family. Happy birthday Kathleen and many good wishes for the future.

Lorrha Camogie.

The best of luck is extended to the Lorrha Junior ‘B’ team and mentors when they take on Gortnahoe on Sunday next the 31st in the county semi-final. This game is fixed for Sean Traceys GAA pitch at 2pm. However, this might change so if travelling, do check with club before setting off.

Return of Popular TV Series.

The popular RTE series ‘Ireland’s Fittest Family’ is set to return to our TV screens this coming Sunday evening.  Each year, the competition begins with a group of 15-20 families, all of whom will be put through extreme endurance challenges in new locations around the country, from steep sand dunes to airports to Irish bogs and a180-metre ski slope. Families from across Ireland compete in different adventure races and fitness competitions in an effort to be crowned Ireland’s Fittest Family and take the prize of €15,000. There to help the groups along the way are four iconic sporting legends. Anna Geary, the four-time All Star winner with Cork camogie, Irish rugby hero Donncha O’Callaghan, legendary hurler Davy Fitzgerald and Olympic sprinter Derval O’Rourke are the four coaches. The series is hosted by Mairead Ronan.
Ireland’s Fittest Family is set to return on Sunday evening October 31st at 6.30pm on RTE 1.Well worth a watch.

75th Anniversary.

St. Flannan’s N.S. Rathcabbin plan on celebrating the 75th anniversary of the school next year. They are hoping to produce a book about the school since the building opened in 1946. Help is required for this project, sourcing material like photographs, stories, and accounts of things from school days. Anyone wishing to help out is asked to contact the Principal Conor Darcy on (086) 4140102 or email rathcabbinns75@gmail.com. All help welcome.

Change of Numbers.

Tipperary County Council has announced that they are changing their contact phone numbers as a result of ComReg’s decision to withdraw the 1850, 1890 and 076 range of Non-Geographic-Numbers (NGN).  From Monday November 1st if you want to contact the Customer Services Desks you will find them on the new number at 0818 06 5000. For Emergency Out of Hours contact  0818 06 5003 and for Tipperary eParking (ParkMagic) you will get them on  0818 06 5004.

North Tipp Ploughing.

A meeting of the North Tipp Ploughing committee will take place on Wednesday night November 3rd in The Yanks, Borrisokane at 8.30pm. All members are requested to attend.

Church News.

Mass Times: Monday Mornings at 9.30am in Lorrha Church (except Bank Holidays). Every Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Lorrha Church. Every Sunday morning at 11.30am in Rathcabbin Church. Borrisokane 7pm Saturday. Kilbarron: 8pm Saturday.  Terryglass: 9.30am Sunday. Borrisokane 10.30am Sunday. Please wear face masks in the Church.
The Rosary will continue to be recited before both masses each weekend.

Feast Day Masses.

Monday, Nov 1st is the Feast of All Saints. Mass will be celebrated in St. Ruadhan’s Church Lorrha  at 9.30am  Tuesday, Nov 2nd is the Feast of All Souls. Mass will be in Our Lady Queen of Ireland Church Rathcabbin at 7.30pm.

 Blessing of Graves.

 The annual blessing of Graves will take place in Bonoham Cemetery after 11.30am Mass in Rathcabbin, on Sunday 31st October and in Lorrha Cemetery at 2pm on Sunday November 7th.

During the month of November people are invited to place their petitions for their departed relatives in boxes provided in both Lorrha & Rathcabbin churches.

Silver Arch Family Resource Centre.

 Based  in Nenagh the Silver Arch Family Resource Centre is delighted to offer a range of health and wellbeing programmes to people over 60 starting in November. They will be hosting a  free Healthy Food Made Easy programme for people living alone or in reduced households and will be running for 6 weeks, looking at practical ways of incorporating good habits to help you age well through exercise, diet and social engagement. Chairobics for over 70’s at a subsidised rate of €2 each week. Places are limited & bookings can be made through Silver Arch FRC at 067-31800

GAA News

Junior Camogie: Lorrha take on Gortnahoe/Glengoole in the County Junior ‘B’ Championship semi-final next Sunday in Kilcommon at 2.00pm.
