Sympathy.
Sympathy is extended to Phyllis Kennedy and the extended Kennedy family on the death of PJ Kennedy, formerly the Lake, who died in England last week. A young man only in his mid 60’s, PJ was well known in the parish through his involvement with the GAA. May he rest in peace. Also to Phyllis on the death of her brother in-law Sean (Scrapper) Phelan, Borrisokane, which occurred on December 29th 2020. A fine hurler with his local club, Sean won several North championships in his time. Predeceased by his wife Kathleen, brother PJ, sisters Nancy, Sadie and recently deceased Teresa. Deeply regretted by his loving daughter Annemarie, Partner John and treasured grandson Jack, brother’s Mikie and Liam, sisters Maura and Biddy, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
After funeral Mass in SS Peter and Paul’s Church Borrisokane on Thursday Dec. 30th burial took place in Nenagh road cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Support.
If anything comes out of this experience, it is the realisation that togetherness and care are what gives us the strength to survive. It is not a weakness to ask for help. A COVID-19 support line is available for older people and is managed by ALONE, a national support line and additional supports for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Professional staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassurance where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8am – 8pm, by calling 0818 222 024.

Rathcabbin Community Hall Ltd
The hall needs your help. It requires vital repairs to the roof. If repairs are not made unfortunately the hall will have to close. Due to Covid restrictions no fundraising can be held at the moment, which means we are looking for support from the community. No matter how small of a donation it will all help. You can donate on line on our gofundme.com page. You can also donate by cash (envelopes are available in church porch and from Kelly’s shop or from any Hall Committee members).
Increase In Numbers Worrying.
2020 will be a year that we all want to forget because of the Covid 19 pandemic and the way it has interrupted the way we live, but we will remember it for the rest of our lives. Now that we are into a new year and a vaccine coming on stream, we are not out of the woods yet and recent figures are worrying. Over two thousand homes throughout the country are without loved ones because of this dreadful virus and with the number of Covid-19 cases continuing to increase, the Government have introduced new, harsher restrictions for the start of 2021 which were listed in the papers last week-end. The big message here is to have no visitors to your house and to stay at home. The re-opening of schools has been postponed until Monday 11th January and this date will be looked at closer as the week progresses. These present restrictions could last well into February if the numbers of confirmed cases continues to increase. But we are all to blame for the sharp rise in numbers. The Government relaxed restrictions so we could all have as normal a Christmas as possible and as we now see, the gamble failed. So it’s back to the lockdown and remember, recovery begins with us. Stay safe.
