Rathcabbin Players are busy rehearsing for their forthcoming 3 act comedy ‘Nobody’s Talking to Me’ written by Tommy Marren and produced by Marian Frawley. The play will be staged in Rathcabbin Hall for six nights in total, four nights the first week-end from Thursday night January 25th to Sunday night 28th and for two nights the following week-end Saturday night February 3rd and Sunday night February 4th

 

Congratulations are extended to Niall McIntyre, son of Aidan and Pauline, Portland, Lorrha who was recently conferred with an honours BA in Irish and Journalism from Dublin City University. Well done Niall and all the best in the future

2018 Lorrha Dorrha Calendar.

The 2018 edition of the Lorrha Dorrha calendar is still widely available and can be purchased throughout the parish in Pat Hough’s, Friars Tavern, Colette’s hair Salon and Sceal Shop, Ferry Service Station, Ferry Inn, Flynn’s Carrigahorig, Brophy’s Rathcabbin, Buckley’s Super Valu Birr,  O’Meara’s Super Value, Lorraine’s hair Salon, Boathouse and Salmons Newsagents Portumna and in Heenan’s Borrisokane. This is a lovely keepsake as well as a great present for anyone but especially for those living away from home. Proceeds from the sale goes back into Lorrha village. Please support.

Sympathy.

The sudden death occurred on Thursday 21st December of Gerry McInerney, Nenagh, formerly  Glenkeen, Borrisoleigh and The Ferry Service Station, Lorrha. During his short few years in the parish he proved to be a popular member of the community.
Sadly missed by his brothers Thomas PJ, Sean and Fr. Declan, P.P Eyrecourt, Co.Galway, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephew, relatives, neighbours and friends to whom sympathy is offered.
After funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church Borrisoleigh on Thursday Dec 28th  burial took place in St Brigid’s Cemetery, Borrisoleigh. May he rest in peace.

The death occurred in London on December 25th 2017 of Michael Larkin, formally Ploverhill, Lorrha.
He is survived by his wife and family, sister, nephews, nieces, and friends to whom sympathy is offered. Burial will take place in England. May he rest in peace.

Easter 2018 Pilgrimage.

Padre Pio Easter  pilgrimage to San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy for four nights flying out from Dublin. Visiting the Shrine of St. Philomena, then onto the church where Padre Pio celebrated his first Mass as a newly ordained priest. The Pilgrimage will also visit his birth place in Pietrelcina,his family home and the church of St. Anna where he was baptized and received his First Holy Communion. In the Capuchin Friary and the cell where St. Pio lived and died. Before returning home, the Pilgrimage will also visit Monte Sant’Angelo, the shrine in the cave where the Archangel Michael appeared in the fifth century along with visiting St. Matthew’s monastery in San Marco in Lamis.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village. Alice Kelly, The Lane, Kildangan was the winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €4500.

Adjourned AGM: The Adjourned Annual General Meeting of Lorrha GAA Club is fixed for Tuesday 9th January 2018 at 8.00pm. The managements of the junior, under 21 and minor teams will be confirmed as well as the positions of Assistant Secretary, County Board Delegate and Schools Liaison Officer.

Auction: Our annual Auction has been fixed for Sunday 4th February.

Tipperary Challenge: The Tipperary senior hurlers will play Galway senior club champions Liam Mellows in a challenge game in Moatfield on Saturday 13th January at 2.00pm
