Open Day.

Lorrha National School Open Day will take place on Thursday March 16th from 1.00 to 2.30p.m Come along and meet the teachers, view the school and see what we have to offer. We look forward to meeting you. All welcome.

Lorrha St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Come along to the Lorrha St. Patrick’s Day parade on Friday March 17th at 3.00p.m. Anyone wishing to enter a float is asked to contact Donna on (087) 9050565. Entry is free and all are welcome. There will be a BBQ and music in the Friars Tavern later to bring proceedings from the day to a close. Do come along and support local effort.

Church News.

Friday, 17th March – Feast of Saint Patrick  –  Holyday of obligation. Mass will be celebrated in Rathcabbin Church at 10.30a.m.
Don’t forget the ‘Suggestion Box’ which is in each of our three churches for the next number of weeks. We invite parishioners (Catholics who are active and non-active) to write their suggestions as to how best in your opinions we can make this parish into a true Christian Community. We welcome positive suggestions and also the fact those making them are willing to be involved themselves.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Mary Larkin, nee Sammon late of Carrigahorig, who died recently. May she rest in peace.

North Tipperary Ploughing Re-Scheduled.

The North Tipperary Ploughing committee are hoping for the fine weather to continue throughout the week so that the championships can go ahead on Sunday 19th March but again if weather permits. The time remains the same, 12.30pm. and the venue the same, on the lands of Joe and Lillian Austin, Borrisokane, by kind permission. The site is situated close to the COI hall on the Ballingarry road. Enquiries to the secretary Denis Cahalan on (087) 7793719.

Lorrha Rathcabbin Energy Team.

Lorrha Rathcabbin Energy Team (LRET) are holding their Annual General Meeting (AGM) in the GAA Clubhouse, Moatfield, on Thursday, 23rd March 2017 at 8pm.  All are welcome to attend.

Spring De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the spring collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and maths including bath toilet and shower math’s, soiled or wet clothing. All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village which helps to keep two adults employed. Many thanks for your continued support.

South East Galway Comhaltas in conjunction with Galway Comhaltas are delighted to present Sean Keane in concert on Friday April 7th in Portumna Town Hall at 8pm. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets priced at €20 can be purchased through Salmons Newsagents, Portumna or call (087) 0994578.

Lorrha GAA News.

Senior: Lorrha got their County League campaign off to a winning start with a 2-13 to 1-10 win away to JK Brackens in Templemore with Niall McIntyre and Barry Moran getting the goals. Lorrha host Burgess in round 2 on 25-26 March.

Minor: Lorrha Rovers Gaels will begin their Minor Football Championship campaign against Kiladangan in Puckane this Sunday, 19th March at 2pm.

Under 16 Football: Lorrha Rovers Gaels finally hope to get their football championship underway against Borris-Ileigh in Borrisoleigh this Saturday at 3pm.

Under 14 Football: Lorrha Rovers Gaels begin their football campaign against Borrisokane in Moatfield on Wednesday 22nd March at 6pm.

Under 12: Lorrha received a walkover in the football championship from Templederry last Saturday. This Saturday they face Kilruane MacDonaghs in Cloughjordan at 1pm

Poker Classic: Thank you to everyone who supported our Poker Classic last Saturday night. Although it clashed with the Tipp v Kilkenny game, it was well supported with Liam Donoghue emerging the winner. Our raffle prizes were won by: 1st – Kevin Burke, 2nd – Jamie Lewis and 3rd – Michael O’Carroll, David Fogarty and Paddy Kennedy.

Membership: for 2017 is now due. €90 – Adult player; €50 – Minor/College student; €30 – Non-playing Adult (+€70 extra for gym membership); €20 – Juvenile (16 and under); €90 – Family (2 adults and 2 children, capped at €100 for three or more children). All players (juvenile and adult must have their membership paid before matches begin) Closing date for membership is 31st March as number the County Board will use towards our ticket allocations for Tipperary games so it is in your interest to have membership paid by then. Membership can be paid to club registrar Louise Mannion or can also be done online at www.locallotto.ie. Members can also log onto www.grma.gaa.ie to get their new GAA Rewards card.

Lotto: Our jackpot is €4,350 with a Match 3 pot of €100. You can play online at www.locallotto.ie.

Social Dancing: on St Patrick’s Night night with Pat Daly. Dancing 9.30pm to 12.30am.
