Birthday Greetings.
Many congratulations to Sheila Dillon Portumna and Lorrha on the occasion of her 92nd birthday and to Girlie Kennedy, Rathcabbin on the occasion of her 88th birthday. Both ladies celebrated their wonderful events with their respective family last weekend and we all wish both ladies good health and happiness in the years ahead Sheila and Girlie.
Clocks Change.
Winter time is getting closer and when the clocks go back one hour this year which is on Sunday October 27, at 2am, then we know it’s time to face the reality of darker evenings. Thanks to the change, you’ll get an extra hour in bed or an extra hour out partying over the bank holiday weekend. So don’t forget to change your clock come Sunday morning.

Parents Association.
Our parents association are holding a Christmas Fair and Auction on Saturday 30th November from 2pm to 5pm in the Friars Tavern E45 V651. Spaces are available for anyone wishing to sell their produce and to book your space call Theresa on (086) 0052826 or Gina on (085) 8187488 or email Lorrhanationalschoolpa@gmail.com. Come along and support the committee on the day as they promise loads of gifts and great fun for all.
Athletics.
We participated in the Primary School Athletics which was held in Thurles, towards the end of September. Despite the day turning out to be wet and cold, all enjoyed the races and had a good day out overall.
Blitz.
The Senior classes participated in the annual North Tipp Cumann na mBuncol Gaelic Football blitz which was held in Toomevara recently and they had a great time meeting other young people from the various schools that took part. Our thanks to the organising committee for their work in preparation for the day.
Our junior classes took part in a football blitz which was held in Kildangan GAA pitch last week. We were lucky with the weather here as the rain stayed off and we got all our games played. We all enjoyed the day and meeting other young people who participated. Well done to the organising committee and thank you for the invitation.
Enrolment.
We are now taking enrolments for the 2025 – 2026 academic school year. Parents interested can contact the school website on www.lorrhans.weebly.com. Message the page, contact the school by email to luanaofa@gmail.com or contact the office at (090) 9747295 to request application form or to make appointment to visit and meet the staff, see what we have to offer including our new sensory room and library.

Battery Collection.
We continue to collect used batteries in association with WEEE Ireland, Battery Recycling. By taking part, we are helping to tackle climate change, protecting the environment and supporting the children, families and staff at Laura Lynn, Irelands Children Hospice. Used batteries, can be left into the school during opening times.
Halloween Raffle
Rathcabbin Tidy Towns are currently running their annual Halloween Raffle. There are some great prizes to be won. All monies raised will go directly back into the village to help us continue making improvements. This year as a result of your support we were able to paint the exterior of our community hall, create a large pollinator friendly flower bed in the hall car park, develop a new carpet rose bed at the church along with several other smaller projects. Tickets can be bought on idonate at €5 from any volunteer or after mass with the top prize of a €400 travel voucher and many more valuable prizes. They are also available in Kelly’s, Friar’s Tavern, Sceal shop and Mulrooney’s garage. We really appreciate all the support. Thanking you in advance.

iDonate Fundraiser.

Girls through to County Final.
Congratulations to the Lorrha Junior A camogie team and management who are through to the county final after their three point victory over Gortnahoe/Glengoole on a scoreline of 1.16 to 1.13 after extra, extra time. See match report elsewhere in this paper. Lorrha will now play Holycross in the final which is fixed for Saturday 26th in the county pitch at the Ragg and we wish them the best of luck as they bid to step up to the Intermediate grade.
GAA News
There was No Winner of this weeks lotto jackpot of €7,500. The numbers drawn on 21 October were: 1-13-15-28 1 Match 3: Bridget Madden. Promoters: Internet, D&K Mannion, Noreen Houlihan.
Next Monday’s draw will be for a jackpot of €7,600 with Team 3 in charge of the draw. Thank you for your continued support.
Under-21: Lorrha Rovers drew 2-10 to 1-13 away to Portroe on Sunday in the first round of the North ‘B’ Hurling Championship. In the second round next Sunday at 12.00pm, they are against Kilruane MacDonaghs in Lorrha. All support appreciated.
Junior A Camogie: Well done to the girls and management on their thrilling and hard-fought 1-16 to 1-13 win over Gortnahoe/Glengoole in the county semi-final on Saturday night. The County final this Sunday at 3.00pm in the County Camogie grounds, The Ragg, is against Holycross/Ballycahill. Make sure to get out in numbers to support the team.
Social Dancing: continues this Friday night in the Tony Reddin Centre from 9.30pm to the music of Declan Aungier.
