Bishop of Killaloe the Most Reverend Fintan Monahan pictured with Fr. Pat Mulcahy P.P. outside St. Ruadhan’s Church in Lorrha when the Bishop visited the parish last week end to speak to parishioners about the clerical changes in the Diocese of Killaloe.  From Friday July 20th there will be no resident priest in the parish. 

COIS  DEIRGE:   The new week-end Mass changes for the parish cluster of Cois Deirge which includes  Lorrha, Terryglass and Borrisokane and which commences Saturday, 21st and Sunday, 22nd July.

Vigil Mass:

6.30p.m. Lorrha/Redwood:      Sunday Morning:      9.30a.m. Terryglass.

7.00p.m.  Borrisokane                                                10.30a.m.    Borrisokane/Aglish

8.00p.m.  Kilbarron                                                    11.30a.m.    Rathcabbin

Please Note:  Saturday Evening Mass will alternate between Lorrha and Redwood.

Redwood Mass will be 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month.
Lorrha Mass will be 2nd, 4th and 5th (as applies) Saturday of each month.

Borrisokane:   Aglish Mass will be always on 1st Sunday of the month.
All other Sundays  Borrisokane will have 10.30a.m. Mass.

Recent Wedding.

The  lovely wedding of Conor O’ Sullivan, Lordspark, Rathcabbin,  son of Vera and Matt, to Aine Shanahan, Toomevara, daughter  of Joan and Paddy, took place on Friday 29th June in St. Mary’s Church, Enniskerry.
Conor’s best man was Sean O Meara (friend), Andrew O’ Sulllivan (cousin), Kieran Duggan and Jimmy Dunne, both friends while the bride was attended by bridesmaids Elaine Dunne and Siobhan Ryan (sisters), Ruth Shanahan (cousin), and Niamh Kinane (friend).
Mikayla Young and Abigail Mc Govern who are both friends of the bride, were the beautiful flower girls while the lovely page boy was Jack Darby, the grooms cousin. The ceremony was concelebrated by Fr Michael O Meara (Kinnity) and Fr John Molloy (Toomevara). Afterwards the newly- weds adjourned to the  Powerscourt in Enniskerry for their reception where they were joined by family and relatives. Congratulations is extended to Conor and Aine for a long and happy life together in Lordspark.

Annual Redwood Castle Mass.

Mass will be celebrated outdoors at Redwood Castle (weather permitting) on Saturday 14th July at  8.00pm.

Pilgrimage.

The Annual Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock Shrine will take place on Sunday 29th July, led by Bishop Fintan Monahan. Ceremonies will begin at 2.30pm.

Annual Cemetery Mass.

The annual cemetery Mass will be held in St. Seichin cemetery, Abbey, Co. Galway ( the Patron Saint of Abbey), on Sunday 15th July at 7.00pm. This is always a lovely sociable occasion with great community spirit where the locals welcome everyone from all parishes. There is plenty of parking room and plenty of seating with tea and refreshments served afterwards and all are welcome.

Late Con Mahon.

The sudden death occurred at The Galway Clinic, on Tuesday July 3rd of Con Mahon, Balleragh, Lorrha. After funeral Mass in St. Ruadhan’s Church, Lorrha on Friday morning July 6th  burial took place in the adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.

Sympathy.

Sympathy is extended to the wife and family and extended family members of Paddy O’Brien, Birr who passed away on Tuesday July 3rd after a long illness. After funeral Mass in St. Brendan’s Church Birr on Saturday last July 7th burial took place in Clonoghill cemetery. May he rest in peac

De-Clutter.

When cleaning out your wardrobe to make room for the new collection, please remember Lorrha Development/Tidy Towns who continue to collect unwanted clothes throughout the year. Items of clothing must be clean and dry and in good condition please and we can supply bags if you want. We can also collect to make it easy for you, just call (086) 8647166, (086) 8493595 or (087) 2601413 with your name and details. Please note we cannot accept Duvets, bedding, household linen, pillows, cushions, carpets, rugs and mats including bath toilet and shower mats soiled or wet clothing but good quality unwanted clothing for re-use (not recycling). All money raised from all fundraising ventures is used for the ongoing work around Lorrha Village.
